The Lavinium Civic Archaeological Museum in Pomezia is located in Pratica di Mare, near the medieval village of the same name.
Created in 2005 as a permanent exhibition titled “Hic Domus Aeneae,” the museum collects a part of the numerous artifacts from the excavations of the ancient city of Lavinium, whose systematic exploration, started in 1958 thanks to the work of Prof. Ferdinando Castagnoli and then continued in the following decades, has allowed the reconstruction of the events of the city founded by Aeneas and “mother of Rome,” a religious civitas of the Latin peoples.
